ANTI-OPPRESSIVE LEADERSHIP COACHING & ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE CONSULTING
about kai
Hello! My name is kai alviar horton (he/they). I am the Founder and CEO of Lumaya Consulting, a space for anti-oppressive leadership coaching and organizational culture consulting. "Lumaya" is a Tagalog word which means "to become free". My hope and wish for all of us as we learn and heal is that we experience moments of becoming free together.
As a queer, Trans, gender-transcendent, first-generation, neuroexpansive activist and healing facilitator, I believe that all of us have an inherent right to liberation.
Over the last 10 years of my career, I have supported several organizations on their paths to liberatory practice. I know that oppression is at the core of so much of the challenges that organizations face because, to put it simply, most of us were never meant to thrive in these systems. So, how do we do our work knowing that the odds are stacked against us?
I started Lumaya Consulting because I believe in the power of somatics, dreaming, and radical truth-telling as tools to facilitate fundamental culture shifts within organizations. I work with leaders to build bridges across institutional power to advocate for the communities served and the people on the ground that help make the mission and vision possible everyday.

mission
Lumaya Consulting is committed to building a world where people who are historically under-resourced and erased can breathe a bit deeper and feel safe(r) taking up space. To us, working with leaders of organizations and collectives that may need more tools to hold their power and use their power for the sake of all rather than just some is essential to countering oppression. We also believe in the power of shared language across identity and institutional power. So, we work with organizations to build trainings and tools that support the growth of knowledge and language for everyone.
